Llama 3: The Industry Standard

What is it?

The Two Sizes You Need to Know

• Llama 3 8B: The 'Laptop King.' It runs fast on almost any modern computer (requires ~6GB VRAM). It is smart enough for emails, summarization, and basic chat.
• Llama 3 70B: The 'GPT-4 Rival.' It requires a powerful workstation (Mac Studio or Dual-GPU PC with ~40GB VRAM). It is exceptionally smart, capable of complex reasoning and nuance.

Why choose it?

Because everyone else uses it. Most tutorials, plugins, and fine-tunes are built for Llama 3 first. If you are just starting, download the Llama 3 8B Instruct model.

⚠️ The 'Safety' Warning

Meta's official models are heavily 'aligned' (censored). They will refuse to answer questions about controversial topics. If you need an uncensored version, look for 'Dolphin Llama 3' on Hugging Face.
