Flux.1: The New King of Open Source Images
What is it?
Released by the original creators of Stable Diffusion (who left to form Black Forest Labs), Flux.1 is currently the best open-weight image model in the world. It rivals Midjourney v6 in quality. The \"Killer Features\"
- Text that works: If you prompt \"A sign that says 'Hello World'\", Flux will actually write \"Hello World\" correctly. Older models would write gibberish like \"Hlllo Wrlld\".
- Hands that look human: It rarely messes up fingers (the 6-finger problem).
- Prompt Adherence: It follows complex instructions (e.g., \"A cat on the left, a dog on the right, facing each other\") with extreme precision.
Versions to Know
- Flux Schnell (Fast): slightly lower quality, but generates images in seconds. Apache 2.0 license (Business safe).
- Flux Dev (Quality): Higher quality, but slower. Non-Commercial license (Personal use only).
⚠️ Hardware Check
Flux is heavy. You ideally need 16GB+ of VRAM to run it smoothly, though 8GB versions (quantized to Q4/GGUF) are possible but slower.
