What to do When Your Ad Account is Disabled
What is it?
This is one of the most stressful moments for a new store owner. You log in to your Meta (Facebook/Instagram) or Google Ads dashboard and see a red banner: 'Your account has been disabled for policy violations.' Your ads stop instantly.
Why is it important?
This is a common, often automated, event. Panicking, creating a new account (which will also be disabled), or yelling at support will not work. You must follow a calm, methodical appeal process.
Your 4-Step Appeal Playbook
- Don't Panic. Read the Policy: First, read the email or notice. What policy did you *actually* violate? Was it 'Circumventing Systems'? 'Deceptive Business Practices'? Google the policy and honestly review your site. (A common mistake: Your shipping policy times don't match your real shipping times, which is a violation).
- Fix the Problem First: Before you appeal, *fix the potential problem*. If your shipping policy is vague, make it crystal clear. If your product claims are too hyped, tone them down. You must show you've taken action.
- File Your *First* Appeal: Use the official 'Request Review' button. Be professional, polite, and brief. Example: 'Hello, our account was disabled. We have reviewed the [Policy Name] and have audited our entire website to ensure full compliance. We believe this was an error and politely request a second review. Thank you.'
- Be Patient (and Prepare a Backup): It can take days or weeks. Do not submit multiple appeals, as this can reset your place in the queue. While you wait, focus on other marketing channels, like SEO and email marketing.
Common Beginner Pitfall
The biggest mistake is immediately creating a new ad account with a new email. The platforms will detect this (same website, same payment method) and permanently ban you for 'Circumventing Systems'. You *must* follow the appeal process for your original account.
