2.5.7 - Monitoring POD Production SLAs & Shipping Times (Difficulty: Beginner | Path: Launch)

Understanding Statuses & Bottlenecks

What is it?

In your POD dashboard, every order has a 'Status'. This tells you exactly where it is in the fulfillment journey. A 'bottleneck' is any step where the order gets stuck.

Why is it important?

Knowing what these statuses mean helps you spot problems instantly. An order that is 'In Production' for 10 days is a problem. An order that is 'On Hold' is a problem you must fix *now*.

The Most Common Order Statuses:

  • On Hold / Failed: (ACTION REQUIRED) This is a bottleneck. The order has stopped. The Fix: Click on it. It's either a failed payment from you, or a bad customer address. You must fix it manually.
  • In Production: The order is paid and is in the print queue. This is good. However, if it stays in this status for longer than your provider's average (e.g., 5+ business days), it's becoming a 'late' order.
  • Shipped / Fulfilled: The order is on its way to the customer. A tracking number should be attached.
  • Canceled: The order has been canceled and will not be made.

Do's & Don'ts

  • DO: Check your 'On Hold' queue every single day. This is your most important daily task.
  • DON'T: Assume 'In Production' means it will ship soon. During peak season, this step can become a major bottleneck.
