1.5.3 - Designing Your Shopify Pages & Global Elements (Difficulty: Beginner | Path: Launch)

Customizing Your Header, Logo & Navigation

What is it?

The header is the consistent section at the top of every page. It's your store's primary branding and navigation tool.

Why is it important?

It's the first thing customers interact with. A clear, well-organized header helps customers understand your brand and find what they are looking for instantly.

How to Customize Your Header:

In the theme editor, click on the 'Header' section in the left sidebar to open its settings.

  • Logo: Adjust the position (left or middle) and the width of your logo to ensure it looks sharp.
  • Menus: Select the navigation menu you want to display. You can create drop-down menus or even large 'mega menus' in Online Store > Navigation to organize many collections.
  • Sticky Header: Choose if you want the header to 'stick' to the top of the screen as the user scrolls. This is highly recommended as it keeps the search, menu, and cart buttons always accessible.
  • Announcement Bar: Use this to display important messages like 'Free Shipping Over $50' or a special discount code.
